TraLog is a combination of GSM-GPRS, GPS and micro SD in 1 shield. We added every possible feature that we could think of when making this shield. TraLog gives you the capability of GSM-GPRS connectivity, GPS tracking, and data logging capability all in 1 shield without having a 10 storey high shield stacks! We also came out with a simple Arduino compatible library for the WISMO228 GSM-GPRS module that allows you get started straight away without have to worry about messing with AT command (forgetting about the carriage return is a nightmare, ei?). I’m interested in this shield, but I was wondering if you knew the precision of the GPS ? Is it more like 10 meters precision, or 25 m precision ?
And as I’m new to Arduino, do you think I can plug a bluetooth shield in addition to this one, if I want to share the GPS data by bluetooth and GSM ?
It is 2.5 m CEP as stated on the U-Blox MAX-6 datasheet.
You could add Bluetooth but you would have to use the serial port on a Mega2560 as on a regular Arduino Uno/Duemilanove, it is used for the GSM and GPS section. And furthermore, I believe the memory used will be overwhelming on the smaller Arduino. SPI based Bluetooth module is possible but care is needed as the microSD card also uses the SPI bus.
Can you tell me how you handle the large current required during transmission? The Sierra Wireless docs mention capacitors near the VBATT. I’ve seen similar Arduino boards that have triple 1000uF capacitors and a Micrel MIC29302. Curious to know how you handle it on your nice looking board!

Great Shield! Can’t figure out why the gsm is not powering up. Before I dive into more difficult code, I wanted to test the GSM with the SMS example and I keep getting the “ugh, can’t power up.”
Any help would be great!
It can be caused by several issues: insufficient power supply (make sure it is capable of 2A at least), locked SIM card, wrong pin configuration. Please drop us a mail for support.
