As with the tradition here at Rocket Scream, we do it with ultra low power fashion! We basically took our\u00a0<a title=\"Mini Ultra 8 MHz\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rocketscream.com\/blog\/product\/mini-ultra-8-mhz-arduino-compatible\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mini Ultra 8 MHz<\/a> board and mash it up with a LoRaWAN certified module. On top of that, we wanted to be able to power the board with a single cell battery such as 1.5 V AA or 3.0 V CR123A batteries. The Mini Ultra LoRaWAN works\u00a0great with our beloved\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/rocketscream\/Low-Power\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Arduino compatible low power library<\/a> to allow flexible low power management of the board.\u00a0 Read all about the design of the board <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rocketscream.com\/blog\/2018\/06\/18\/single-cell-arduino-compatible-lorawan-low-power-node\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Specifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Compatible with Arduino IDE using \u201cArduino Pro or Pro Mini (ATMega328 3.3V 8 MHz)\u201d as the board option<\/li>\n<li>Microcontroller &#8211; ATMega328P-AU<\/li>\n<li>Clock &#8211; 8 MHz crystal<\/li>\n<li>Operating voltage &#8211; 3.3 V<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ultra low power:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Minimum 35.0 \u03bcA in sleep\u00a0mode with a fresh 3.0 V Lithium CR123A battery<\/li>\n<li>Minimum 70.0 \u03bcA in sleep\u00a0mode with a fresh 1.5 V AA battery<\/li>\n<li>Battery voltage can be as low as 1.1V (with alkaline based AA batteries, performance varies with various battery chemistry, brand, temperature and other factors)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Battery connector options &#8211;\u00a0<strong>AA<\/strong> or <strong>CR123A<\/strong>\u00a0battery holder but battery power can also be supplied through the breakout pins (single or dual 1.5 V batteries of any size can be used):\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Battery connector are not included and are sold separately (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rocketscream.com\/blog\/product\/aa-battery-holder\/\">AA<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rocketscream.com\/blog\/product\/cr123a-battery-holder\/\">CR123A<\/a>).<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>RN2483A\/RN2903A can be used as a wake up source while the ATMega328P is in sleep mode<\/li>\n<li>All pins of RN2483A\/RN2903A are made available on the breakout pins:\n<ul>\n<li>Up to 14 digital IO pins can be used as input or output<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Battery monitoring on pin A6<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ultra long range LoRaWAN radio <\/strong>module options:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Microchip RN2483A<\/strong> &#8211; 868\u00a0MHz (433 MHz port are made available with u.FL connector)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Microchip RN2903A<\/strong> &#8211; 915 MHz<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>2 options of antenna connector:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>SMA<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>u.FL\u00a0<\/strong>(u.FL connector is also assembled on 433 MHz port on the RN2483A version)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Reverse battery protection<\/li>\n<li>Automatic power switch over from battery to external 3.3 V power supplied on the FTDI 6-pin header<\/li>\n<li>Indicator LED connected to digital pin 13 through a MOSFET<\/li>\n<li>ATMega328P communicates with RN2483A\/RN2903A over UART through pin D8 &amp; D9 using\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pjrc.com\/teensy\/td_libs_AltSoftSerial.html\">AltSoftSerial written by Paul Stoffregen<\/a>\u00a0(vs the Arduino IDE stocked SoftSerial library)<\/li>\n<li>Side reset tact switch for easy access (for both ATMega328P and RN2483A\/RN2903A)<\/li>\n<li>Slide switch to isolate the RN2483A\/RN2903A UART pins from the ATMega328P&#8217;s pins during RN2483A\/RN2903A firmware upgrades<\/li>\n<li>FTDI USB serial 6-pin header for code upload<\/li>\n<li>Works below sub-zero temperature<\/li>\n<li><strong>Footprint for optional encryption chip ATECC508A\/ATSHA204A<\/strong> from Microchip that runs on the I2C bus (also fits many other memory devices that works on I2C bus)<\/li>\n<li>900 mil in between 2 breakout headers &#8211; suitable for breadboard usage<\/li>\n<li>Dimension &#8211; 25.4 mm x 77.47 mm (1.0\u2033 x 3.05\u2033) (without the SMA connector)<\/li>\n<li>RoHS compliant \u2013 Yes<\/li>\n<li>Antenna and battery connector not included<\/li>\n<li>FR4 TG140 PCB with ENIG surface finish<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Documentation:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/rocketscream\/MiniUltraLoRaWAN\">Design files on Github<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/rocketscream\/MiniUltraLoRaWAN\/blob\/master\/MINI-ULTRA-LORAWAN.pdf\">Schematic (pdf)<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/rocketscream\/Low-Power\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Arduino compatible low power library on Github<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/rocketscream\/MiniUltraLoRaWAN\/blob\/master\/MiniUltraLoRaWANSendOTAA.ino\">OTAA with TTN example sketch\u00a0<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rocketscream.com\/blog\/docs-item\/getting-started-with-mini-ultra-lorawan\">Getting started guide (work in progress)<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ultra low power single cell LoRaWAN Arduino compatible board.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Battery connector are now sold separately!!!
